Agricultural Streptomycin

Firewall is a powerful tool for the control of bacterial diseases. The active ingredient in Firewall is Streptomycin Sulfate, a highly effective bactericide for dependable control.

Crops Protected
  • Apples – Fire Blight
  • Pears – Fire Blight
  • Celery – Bacterial Blight
  • Peppers – Bacterial Spot
  • Potatoes – Soft Rot and Blackleg
  • Tomatoes – Bacterial Spot
  • Tobacco – Wildfire and Bacterial Spot

Mode of Action
  • Protectant, limits multiplication
  • Technically bactericidal
  • Locally systemic
  • Residual effect estimated 3 days
  • Application timing and coverage are crucial

Application Rates
The concentration range is 24 to 48 ounces per acre for tree fruit equivalent to 50-100 ppm @ 600 gallons per acre with a preharvest interval of 50 days. [Follow label use directions for crop development, application intervals & frequency].

Resistance Management Techniques

Apples and Pears:
  • Use a weather based system for disease prediction such as Maryblyt and Cogarblight
  • Plant resistant varieties
  • Use a locally recommended extension service management strategy
  • Use product tank mixtures and rotations
  • Use a dormant copper application
The active ingredient in Firewall is streptomycin, an aminoglycoside antibiotic. Do not use Firewall on populations that have developed resistance to streptomycin.
